Oswald Danes is a major antagonist in Torchwork: Miracle Day. He is a pedophile who was sentenced to death for killing a 12-year-old girl. He is executed, but he is returned to life when death mysteriously stops all over the world.

He was portrayed by Bill Pullman.

Torchwood[]

Danes is a former teacher, and a pedophile who molested many little girls he taught and eventually killed one of them. He was arrested and sentenced to death. The execution takes place, but Danes returns to life at the moment that death stops all over the world. His lawyer argues that imprisoning someone who had already been executed is cruel and unusual punishment, and Danes is released. He then became the most hated man in the country, although he feigned remorse. He is filmed after saving a baby, making him a sensation of the media.

Danes soon goes to a media tour at a stopping point in Texas. Arriving there he meets a prostitute who tells him that he should be considered ''Category Zero'', criminals who in an absence of natural death will simply be incinerated. Danes then flees to Wales, where he ends up entering the home of agent Torchwood Gwen Cooper. He then steals Kitzinger's laptop, Danes soon reveals that he left a clue about the location of ''In Blessing'' and mistranslated news from China and also in Argentina. Afraid that Rhys who is the husband of Gwen and father of its daughter, can kill the Danes, he Gwen and Jack go to Shanghai. After hearing Gwen, Jack and Danes enter the store with her. They soon find explosives tied up in Danes to keep families hostage. After Jilly mocked him the could use the explosives to kill them before the Miracle was denied. Danes then regained his composure and started that he was already accustomed to the feeling of sin. Before he uses the detonator on The Mother, he says he's going to hell. That Danes happily agreed to this and vowed to hunt Susie Cabine up there. Danes then detonated the explosive killing himself and The Mother, and burying Blessing in the blundering.
