Gets shot in his open wound by Bard

Revenge! Revenge! The King under the Mountain is dead, and where are his kin that dare seek revenge? Girion, Lord of Dale, is dead, and I have eaten his people like a wolf among sheep, and where are his sons' sons dare approach me? I kill where I wish, and none dare resist. I lay low the warriors of old, and their like is not in the world today. Then I was but young and tender. Now I am old and strong, strong, strong, Thief in the Shadows!
~ Smaug, The Hobbit novel

Smaug the Terrible, Smaug the Tyrannical, Smaug the Golden, or simply just Smaug, is a minor antagonist in the The Hobbit trilogy, behind Bolg, Azog, and Sauron, and a minor antagonist in the novel The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, who also wrote the novel The Lord of the Rings, behind Bolg and then Azog.

Appearance Edit

Smaug was a dark red dragon. The rims of his wings were black. His eyes were golden yellow, and his pupils were diamond-shaped. On his belly is a hole where a scale used to be. A bowman named Bard shot an arrow into the hole, which shortly killed Smaug afterwards.

History Edit

Smaug was a fire drake from the North, and one of the last dragons to exist in Middle-earth. He attacked the city of Dale, killing thousands, which included the Lord of Dale, Girion. He finally entered the Lonely Mountain. King Thror tried to protect the Arkenstone, but the shaking of Smaug caused the gold to go everywhere, and the Arkenstone got buried. King Thror, Thrain, Thorin Ooakenshield, and the rest of the survivors escaped, while Smaug buried himself in the treasures and gold, including the Arkenstone.
